HPR (High-Power Rocketry) is a branch of SUSF, where students are dedicated to the development and launching of solid rockets

SUSF is no beginner when it comes to developing and launching solid rockets. From humble beginnings during model rocket outreach events, we gradually increased the size and performance of our rockets.

On the 6th June 2021, the RARA (Rocket Altitude Record Attempt) team at SUSF succeeded in breaking the UK altitude record for an F-class motor, reaching 1726 metres!

Riding on these past successes, the HPR team was formed at SUSF in September 2023. Aiming to compete at the UK national competition, Mach-24, the team worked throughout the year to design, manufacture, test, and prepare their rocket. Thanks to their amazing efforts, the HPR team was able to launch TWO rockets in the summer of 2024, each pushing the boundaries of rocketry, and securing SUSF as an ongoing innovator on the UK student rocketry scene.

In the summer of 2024, HPR soared to 1.5km and 3km respectively, and is hoping to reach even greater heights in 2025!
